Ferrari has confirmed that it is to launch this year's car, the F2010, on Thursday 28 January at its Maranello headquarters. The unveiling of the first Formula 1 Ferrari of Fernando Alonso will come just four days before official pre-season testing begins in Valencia.

With former double Champion Alonso joining the line-up alongside Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella now partnering Luca Badoer as a reserve driver, Ferrari hopes for a title attack this season after suffering its worse campaign last year since 1993, classified fourth in the Constructors' Championship.

"We'll present the car on 28 January in Maranello with a ceremony dedicated to the media and to our partners, while the fans can follow the presentation live on Ferrari.com," explained Team Principal Stefano Domenicali.

"Unfortunately, the new context regarding the rules foresees just four test sessions in February and at the moment it's impossible to determine where we are compared to the others."

Having announcing the news at this week's Wrooom skiing event in the Italian Alps, Ferrari's current codename for the car is the 281.
