Hi guys,

This year i was fortunate enough to go to the British Grand Prix, the first Grand Prix i'd attended for all 3 days. It was very busy for the entire weekend, 85'000 people there the first day, 115,000 the next day and 120,000 for the race day.

We took a lot of photos over the course of the weekend using a Digital SLR camera as we traveled around the track, watching from different vantage points. Here is a few of the photos:

(Thought i'd add that last one in for a treat :P. And remember, there is PLENTY more where all of those came from, see below)

Please, if you'd like to use any photos here for a wall paper or whatever, drop me a PM or an email specifying (if you have any preferance) what driver (Kimi or Felipe) and from what corner (A selection from Copse, Stowe or the start/finish straight). If you could give credit as well, that would be nice.

Thanks!

WOW! :icon_cheesygrin:

The shots really capture the speed of the cars. I wish I could have gone to Silverstone before it got pulled.

Would love to see more! What model is the last pic? I don't actually know.. Looks pretty. Who is the driver? :icon_redface:

Yeah it's not entirely confirmed yet, Bernie has said that if Donington isn't ready (which i doubt it will be) then the British Grand Prix will most certainly be at Silverstone!

The last car competed in the Historic Sports Car Challenge race, and is a 512S. Fantastic looking and sounding car and the driver is Shaun Lynn.

I hope donington won't be ready in time. I hate to see the guy fail (I forgot his name but he gave a interview in F1 racing) but I think Silverstone is a much better venue. In terms of the track layout and enthusiasm. Its been on the calender since 1950 and it shouldn't be removed in my opinion.

I remember Bernie saying that now... musta slipped my mind! There has been so much flying out of Bernie and Max this season :icon_razz:

Never heard of that model. It looks pretty.. almost like a American design. Bet it does sound good.

Yes, Donington is my local track but to be honest, they arn't cut out to host a Grand Prix. They struggle to control the amount of traffic British Touring Cars pull race day, and the paddock is nowhere near big enough. For me in terms of a track, Donington is better with elevation changes and very challenging corners, but i think it's suited better to the BTCC and bike racing.

Silverstone has much greater facilities and great traffic control systems and for Formula One it is the better track, much quicker and the opening sector, Copse, Maggots and Becketts is a great sequence or corners.

Yes, it's a 70's period Le Mans racer, the sort that battled with the Gulf Porsche 917s etc if i remember correctly, glorious V12 sound track though.

Thank you for the nice comments, they are appriciated :D.

I love the first few corners at Silverstone and the fast Bridge turn. Isn't the paddock due to be upgraded with everything else? Way I read it was pretty much everything was being upgraded especially the pits/paddock area. With under a year left they have a lot to do I'd say. Have they even started?

In the F1 racing magazine it said that the circuits nearby roads might have to be upgraded. If the grand prix goes ahead it could be a shambles.

It must sound like a beast :)

Yeah back when racing cars looked fantastic! There's some good ones now, but not as many.
