View Full Version : 'Alonso-Ferrari announcement possible at Monza'
The Spanish media has raised speculation that a deal which has been struck between Fernando Alonso and the Ferrari team may be revealed at September's Italian Grand Prix. With the former double World Champion strongly linked with the team for the past two years and Monza a popular venue for Ferrari announcements, the silly season starts here.
As 2005 and 2006 Champion Alonso left McLaren at the end of a controversial 2007 season, in which the Spaniard very publically fell out with British team-mate Lewis Hamilton, the former has been robustly linked with the Scuderia and holds a get out clause on his Renault contract to leave the French team at the end of this season.

Don't like this at all.
Don't think Alonso would make a good Ferrari driver. Only hope these are rumours. I don't think Massa or Raikkonen would want to be second driver to him because we know he would want to have the support for the world title.
What do you think?

I agree. I think Massa and Raikkonen should be the only drivers for now.
If he does go with Ferrari he needs to be put though some sort of test.
What sort of test do you think? I just don't think he is Ferrari material to be honest. He doesn't seem to like getting beaten by team-mates well!

He should be tested on his skill first of all. I think there should be some sort of passion test. to see if he really cares about Ferrari or just the money.
More news:
Vettel to Ferrari as soon as 2010?
Reports in the Spanish media have linked Sebastian Vettel with a Ferrari seat in the very near future.
Spanish sports daily Marca reported yesterday that Maranello’s sponsors and advisors are working hard to get Vettel into the team as soon as possible, with Michael Schumacher apparently personally involved.
Vettel’s spectacular performances this year – not least his drubbing of the opposition at Silverstone last weekend – will have impressed key Ferrari bosses determined to return the Prancing Horse to the top step of the podium.
The young German’s ability to set-up a winning car as well as drive it very quickly has also won him plaudits, and might be the difference between him and the current Ferrari driver line-up. Vettel has been seen to be the difference between a winless Red Bull team and a winning one. This is perhaps unfair on Adrian Newey but there is no doubt Vettel brings a lot to the table.
Marca reports that the only obstacle to the Vettel-Ferrari deal – which has been mooted by Bernie Ecclestone in the past – is Dietrich Mateschitz. The Austrian Red Bull boss is determined to keep Vettel, who has been the most successful product to date of the drinks company’s driver development programme.
But other obstacles could come in the shape of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. Alonso is thought to already have a Ferrari agreement for 2010 or 2011, and is unlikely to want a team-mate as competitive as Vettel. Felipe Massa, meanwhile, is adored by the team and has a contract til 2011. Kimi Raikkonen is widely expected to retire at the end of this season.
All the moves would presumably take place in the FOTA breakaway championship, teams and drivers having signalled their commitment to it.
I like our current driver lineup and headlines like this will put our drivers under pressure. Particularly Kimi. I hope he can pull off some amazing performances in the upcoming races to secure his seat :)

Ok, it may be just me being thick but how the hell do I get a new post on this blog? Easy when you know how but come on, I don't and there is NO obvious way of doing so. Where's the boffin with the technical knowhow to set this straight. I and many like me need a GREAT BIG BOX THAT SAYS "NEW POST HERE!"
Just a thought because then I wouldn't have to hijack someone else's thread about Alonso. A name, by the way, I have a real problem with. One of them plays for our bitterest – yet have never won the Premier Leaguest – rivals from down the M62. URGH!!!!
Nice stalking to ya.
